Some of us have already written this year off. Others are just going through the motions hoping for better days ahead . . . in 2021. For a few, it’s the worst of times and it seems like it will never get better. For each situation, it’s hard to plan for the future, which is uncertain at best. Here’s the rub, we’ve never really known for sure what the future would bring.
I went through all of the above stages while mourning the loss of my career—there aren’t any conferences to speak at now, or anytime in the foreseeable future. What helped me was looking for ways to turn what I do into something new. I took the time to figure out what to do and now that I know what that is, I’m excited to to act on it.
I have no idea how it will all turn out. What I‘ve found is, hope is better than despair, action is better than inaction, and when things change like they have, there are opportunities to be had.
